My career started in nonprofit marketing and communications. Limited resources naturally led to a lot of ownership. But with that, I was able to quickly learn how to understand people and communities from the inside — and the problems that really matter.
Agency life added a new dimension that built on my previous experience. I was able to take what I'd learned from getting close to the consumer, and then pull it back up to the brand level to reflect what it means for the business and strategy.
What I've learned about myself is that I thrive when I'm uncomfortable. Being in new environments, solving new problems, and working with new people are where I think most clearly and show up most fully.
It's part of why I went back to school. My Master's in Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern has given me the tools to take everything I know about people and culture, and build the strategic and analytical framework to translate it into measurable business impact — and make the case for it.
